Heathcliff -Wuthering Heights- by kyla79 Heathcliff -Wuthering Heights- by kyla79
This is for It's Heathcliff, from the novel "wuthering heights" by Emily Bronte. Gosh I adore that book! I'm re-reading it right now!!!

Anyway, this is my first ever pic done entirely in photoshop and all. Took me a HELL of a lot of time (paper is better! ;) ) Almost seven friggin hours... The background was really quickly done. Best seen NOT in full view :D

Hope you'll enjoy! :)

Heathcliff and his man pains!
KasiChan Featured By Owner Jun 23, 2010
Nice. I assume that the men of the Bronte novels are kind of... not quite as handsome as they could be for the main male character. I read 'Jane Eyre' but not 'Wuthering Heights'. But you're peaking my interest with your art. Well done!

I prefer line art done on paper first for myself. It's always easier to maneuver your hand with a pencil than it is with a pen tool. Very good though.

I liked Heathcliff until he started hanging up dogs. That's not cool.
Ivy-Green Featured By Owner Jul 13, 2009
Poor sad Heathcliff. That book was kinda depressing, but I still liked it. Nice one!

...and yes, Heathcliff also reminds me of Snape. Guess that's why I loved Snape when I saw him...well that, and the fact that when the movie came out it was Alan Rickman!;)

I love Heathcliff:heart: (even though he's a violent, abusive, mentally unstable and cruel man)
I also love the way you draw him.
You really captured the intensity of the scene.

hehe. i've never really thought of heathcliff as a treehugger. i'm reading this for english right now. haha.

Reading Wuthering Heights is much better than watching the movie. I always like the way The Bronte sisters wrote their stories with a lot of descriptions to entertain my imaginations. Anyway, I like your tree hugging heathcliff's sketch. It's very like him though he reminds me of Snape. Well, the sisters loved their Byronic heroes to have roman-liked noses and vulcan expressions.

heathcliff's angst is well done, but i love how you have captured the personality of the moors. they are my favorite "character" in the novel. i love your work!

Simply amazing, though very reminiscent of your Severus Snape painting. Geesh, I sound constipated. Anyhoodles, I love it. Kinda pictured Heathcliff with darker skin.
Okay, shutting up now.

Aww! Heathcliff! My favourite character from "Wuthering Heights" (which is one of my favourite novels :D).
Duh! I loved him, nevermind, how loud did he scream on everybody and what did he do generally.

Great picture! First drawing in Photoshop?! :jawdrop: Well... my first is definately worse. :hmm:

hehe, you are the third person who mentions that book, on this particular drawing! Weird, eh? In fact, I really intend to read the book as soon as possible!

Well, I guess we are all eager to see the marvelous fanart you would surely produce once you have read it... :D
Knowing that our tastes are more or less the same, I dare to predict that you might especially like John Childermass. ;)
I'd kill to see a Childermass drawing done by you! :XD:
kyla79 Featured By Owner Jan 13, 2008
hehe, I am reading the book now! :D and yes, Childermass is quite cool indeed! :D
TaNebetThu Featured By Owner Dec 13, 2008
Tu devrais aussi lire "Jane Eyre" (de Charlotte Bronte, sa soeur); je crois que finalement, j'adore le personnage Edward Fairfax Rochester encore plus que Heathcliff... Mais pas autant que Snape, bien sûr! ;)

Kyla: I am done with the book and I also saw the movie with Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes... OMG such a tragic love story!!!! Thank you... it was this picture that made me read it!

I am so glad you liked it! I will have to do more fanart one day, it's really one of my favourite books! And didn't Heathcliff remind you of Snape, just a little?
Lily-Atelier Featured By Owner Nov 8, 2007
OMG Heathcliff reminded me sooo much of Snape!! And I would like to think Cathy and Heathcliff, got along like Lily and Severus.... It was such a beautiful book!!! So inspiring!! I cried so much ... thank you!

GASP! Well done! You've done a beautiful Heathcliff, the viewer can most certainly feel his pain.

Just finished the book. I love how you drew heathcliffe.
Chaobaby7 Featured By Owner Oct 20, 2007
its amazing, Heathcliff was my hero when I was 11 now its Severus Snape, I think I've a thing for dark, misunderstood and not especially nice characters, :)
kyla79 Featured By Owner Oct 20, 2007
hehe, do you have any other characters like that you could share with me? I'm a sucker for such characters, I am sure we have more than these two in common!
Lily-Atelier Featured By Owner Nov 5, 2007
Kyla: I think Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars and Edmund Pensieve from the Chronicles of Narnia fall into this categories, also the guy from Perfume (I can`t pronunce, less write his name )...
Chaobaby7 Featured By Owner Oct 21, 2007
Ooh let me think. Mr Rochester and Mrs Rochester the 1st come to think of it. Mr Slope in Barchester Chronicles ( or could that be because I have a crush on Alan Rickman and have done since 1982!!) In real life there is Byron, Keats and Shelley.
kingpig666 Featured By Owner Oct 15, 2007
Heathcliff + Catherine = Snape + Lily

Oooh I really wish you would draw some more Heathcliff, like perhaps as the little orphan! I know you're busy, though..
