I'll admit: a bow and arrow IS more badass than a fucking frying pan. At least Merida is TRYING to be badass, which is more than I can say for Ra-pussy-el...
...but attitude is not enough. Attitude means nothing if the writing doesn't go along with it. You can have the more badass warrior in the world, and he/she will still turn into a wuss if you stick him/her into a "goofy"/"cartoony" work. And that's my point: "Brave", the movie, is too goofy and cartoony for Merida to be badass. The movie is full of cartoony faces, silly jokes and cute little animals. Even someone like Red Sonja or Hit Girl would end up being a wuss in a work like that.
If Merida really wants to be badass, we need blood. We need a mature tone. We need animation inspired by works as "Fire and Ice", "Heavy Metal", "Watership Down" or "Beowulf". Something that would scare children and horrify soccer moms. Not something "that little kids can watch".
Look, dear, I hate to have to point this out, but if you want blood, watch another movie. DISNEY IS A COMPANY FOR CHILDREN!!! Hence, they WILL only make movies "that little kids can watch." Merida is an amazing change in the type of princess Disney usually portrays and if that's not badass enough for you, you really shouldn't be watching kids' movies anyway.
I look forward to this movie, and your artwork's always impressive and wonderful to behold. Hey, you have a tumblr too! Awesome. I'm bensoulstone. Feel free to find me'n follow me if you want. I would do the same right now but my internet is being derp.

I don't care.
I just don't care.
SilverWingVampire just reminded me how much I hate my life and how everyone in real life conspires to make me feel miserable.
All because I triend to be friendly around her.
So, right now, I could use a Disney movie. I could anything that would cheer me up.
