OMG HARRY POTTER PART II

Sun Jul 22, 2007, 1:46 PM
  • Mood: Tearful
  • Listening to: Anything that reminds me of HP...
  • Reading: Harry Potter and the DEATHLY HALLOWS
  • Watching: Nothing, only the book...
  • Eating: Macarons!
  • Drinking: Milk (this will never change, BTW) And COFFEE
Yeah, so I adored the book. It ended exactly how I wanted it to end. And I feel just like Rowling described when finishing writing the book: euphoric and devastated.

I'll post real thoughts in a week or so, now it's a little too early...
No spoilers in your eventual comments! But I'd love to know what the general feeling was!

I think I never cried that much in a day. Probably just as much as when I was dumped by my boyfriend a few years ago... XD

Well... this is the first Harry Potter book that I got to paw through less than six months after it had been released (I went to Barnes 'n' Noble dressed as Cho Chang and picked up my copy at midnight), so I was soooo relieved to get through it without having anything spoiled.

I cried on five separate occasions that I can specifically remember, and, I thought this a bit odd, not all of them were caused by people dying. There are just some plumb touching moments in that book!

It's wierd that it's over. I'm still kinda mourning the end of the series and certain characters. But boy, that ending was just somehow spiffy.

I also cried at parts that weren't really that bad, like George coming back with his ear missing and Mrs Weasley worried sick about him, or the scene where ron leaves... And don't get me started on the ending, with the Snape thing and all... totally killed me...

I was really disappointed in the book. There were misspellings, and she didn't answer many of the burning (to me, anyway) questions. The characterizations were all wrong (one word - Lupin), and just.... grrr.

I'm sure I would have enjoyed the book more had a certain somebody's death not overshadowed everything for me :( (tragic little fangirl that I am! ^^; )

A solid, good book and overall a satisfying ending, but I didn't really go out with a bang, rather like the Malfoys, surviving, but kind of wondering what the heck just happened...

The book had definite highlights, but some of the main characters met ends unworthy of them.

From reading most of the comments, I've suddenly got the sudden sense of impending doom. You know, the kind of doom when you think Harry's going to die.
Hopefully that's not the case. I can't wait to read the book though . . . I have to, sadly

I did like the book a lot... but really, I wasn't satisfied by the epilogue. I know why she put it there--it was meant to make you feel happy after reading about all of that devistation. All the same, I thought that it sounded a bit like a bad fan fiction. ^^; There were a lot of characters that I wish she had included becaues I wanted to know what became of them! Ah well. I guess you can't have everything!

I basically spent the last third part of the book crying. Not only because of the deaths, but also because of what we got to know and what Harry did ;_;

I didn't mind the epilouge. Cheesy, yes, but seeing how the rest of the book was and how epilouges aren't supposed to tell you everything that happened up to that point... yeah. I actually liked it. And when the person tells the kid the reason for it's name? I cried again.

It was great. I don't think we could have asked for a better ending.

But ..... and .....?! I cried so hard. They can't leave Teddy!
And .... . One of the things that hurt most there was reading about his family's reactions.

All in all, I think the book was great. Some things could have been pulled off more elegantly, but that would have been really difficult.

I feel the same way. Euphoric and devastated.

My feeling was mostly grief, really :S

To be honest, I'm a person who always cheers for the background characters, the characters who never get much screentime, or in the case of HP, the baddies, sometimes XD

So...well. You know what happened, and...a lot of my favourites were just...you know. So...

But the book was my most favourite, mostly because the thing I've been speculating came true, and it was sooo wonderful, but I still cried D:

Okay, the most I was feeling was to cry D:

Man I cried when this person died and when that person died and also one of them died and and when that guy died and the person next to him

also to me the middle of the book was VERY drawn out and the ending kinda scrunched together, also I would like to know what happend to each of the surviving characters...7 pages is too short for an ending

I finished reading it last night. :) It was a good and exciting book, so much action from the very first chapters. And the building amount of grief.. it was devastating and shocking at times. The Horcruxes were interesting and the doe Patronus was very touching. But still, my favourite will always be the third book, mostly because of the different kind of storyline (no Voldemort, just secrets of the past) and the introduction of both of my favourite characters: Remus Lupin and Sirius Black.

Silly, stupid amazingly tragic romantic man. GAH. The Prince's chapter nearly killed me, but it was perfect. I hadn't dared to hope that his story would resolve the way that it did.

Poor, poor Teddy. I really wasn't expecting his parents to both go so abruptly. But Neville was completely made of awesome. As was Molly with her line regarding Bellatrix :D

The story definitely meandered a bit when the Trio were camping out but the action sequences pretty much made up for it. And the final chapters had me fluctuating between grinning and yelling 'AHA!' and cursing out of shock. Phew. Still processing it all...

Eh, I'm not sure I liked the end with all this childbirth nonsense. I mean, you'd think after almost dying 34983908906 times, Harry would be sterile or something. It's bright green, you'd think the Killing Curse would be radioactive or something.

Wow....It's that emotional. It's amazing how we can get that caught up on a fictional character like that. Eventually they will do the film version a few years from now. So I will feel it then.
I just wish that we as a race could feel this way for real everyday people around us.

Peace.

From what I read of the "leak" reactions--I heard nothing but bad reviews. But part of me is thinking that the actual book was not what was pictured in the leak--so it has me curious--mostly as a Snape fan--if I should spend money on the book or not. But part of me is thinking I should...

It took me eight hours to read because I couldn't put it down. I haven't read a book in years that has touched me emotionally like that - and I'm an English major at college who reads a *lot* of novels every year. I agree - I was left with a strange feeling of euphorbia and emptiness when I finished, and there was very, very little in the book that I would have changed or would have wanted more about. I wanted a bit more of an epilogue, and I wanted a bit more of the aftermath of the actual story (you probably know what I'm talking about), but other than that, I was really satisfied.

I'd love to see some of your take on the book in terms of fanart. :) I've already faved your one image - that was one of the scenes that wrenched my heart the most.

overall, it was truly great. very well done.

i only cried once. and i won't say what the EXACT happenings were but... when he walking through the woods at the end and some ';people' joined him to walk along..? yeah i lost it there.

my favorite character...!! argh! it's too bad i can't really say much in fear of spoiling it for others but... uhg. what happened to him killed me.

i still loved it though lol

Finished it at 12:30 am, I can't remember the last time I cried so much T__T

As for a certain character, it took me 15 minutes to move on to Chapter 33, I was so nervous about finally knowing the truth and I couldn't see the page because I was crying so hard ;___;

But it was perfect, I wouldn't have had it any other way.

I am wondering whether he got a portrait or not. I'm assuming he did, or something, anything....

She didn't say only two would die, she said two died that she hadn't originally planned to kill.

I haven't read all of the book, but I know most of what happened because I wasn't too interested in the book to begin with, so I read some spoilers. I felt like it read like a fanfiction. Again.

Honestly, book six was just a big let down. The characters were butchered, the whole dating thing was just tacked on, and the whole thing read like some fanfiction. None of it was really all that interesting and I can't even bear to re-read it. :\ Books one and three are still some of my all time favorites, though.

I wasn't disappointed by the plot, but I was disappointed by aspects of the presentation. It felt very lackluster compared to the other books, I think. Not nearly enough AHA! moments that cleaned up complex story arcs as I'm used to.

I mean, I guessed the big revelations about Snape and Harry Potter. I was hoping for it to reveal those things but expand on them in ways I did not predict, which for the large part it did not.

Still, it was a really fun read and an excellent book.
